PLACE NOVA<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Construite en 1758 sur ce qui \u00e9tait autrefois un terrain communal destin\u00e9 au travail des c\u00e9r\u00e9ales, cette place est un symbole de la croissance de Palafrugell au-del\u00e0 des limites de l\u2019enceinte m\u00e9di\u00e9vale. Sur la partie nord de la place, vous pourrez admirer l\u2019un des arcs de l\u2019entr\u00e9e de la muraille, parfaitement conserv\u00e9, o\u00f9 se trouvait la tour d\u2019en Moragues, d\u00e9molie en 1908 pour faciliter la circulation des v\u00e9hicules.<\/p>\n

La place Nova est le centre de la vie sociale de Palafrugell et elle est cern\u00e9e par deux b\u00e2timents qui repr\u00e9sentent l\u2019importance de l\u2019esprit associatif qui a r\u00e9gn\u00e9 sur la ville durant de nombreuses ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

LE CENTRE FRATERNAL<\/strong><\/h1>\n

De tous les casinos qui se sont succ\u00e9d\u00e9s au cours du XIXe<\/sup> si\u00e8cle, c\u2019est le seul encore actif. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 fond\u00e9 en 1887 et \u00e9tait le casino des ouvriers, travailleurs de l\u2019industrie du li\u00e8ge, pour la plupart. Il conserve, en plus de son bar-caf\u00e9, son th\u00e9\u00e2tre, des salles \u00e0 disposition des membres de l\u2019\u00e9tablissement, ainsi qu\u2019une magnifique biblioth\u00e8que.<\/p>\n

LE CERCLE MERCANTIL<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Le Cercle a \u00e9t\u00e9 fond\u00e9 en 1904 par des repr\u00e9sentants de la bourgeoisie industrielle, des commer\u00e7ants et de grands propri\u00e9taires terriens de Palafrugell. C\u2019est dans ce b\u00e2timent, construit \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 1870, que s\u2019est install\u00e9e la nouvelle association. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 restaur\u00e9 dans les ann\u00e9es 1920 dans le but d\u2019aligner son architecture sur l\u2019esth\u00e9tique des grands casinos bourgeois de l\u2019\u00e9poque. Le th\u00e9\u00e2tre, qui appartenait \u00e0 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9, est aujourd\u2019hui le Th\u00e9\u00e2tre municipal de Palafrugell, la mairie a r\u00e9nov\u00e9 les immeubles en 2009.<\/p>\n
