Un an plus tard, Paul Meyer s\u2019est joint \u00e0 eux. D\u00e8s 1916, l\u2019entreprise Manufacturas de Corcho SA est n\u00e9e, puis elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 absorb\u00e9e par la compagnie am\u00e9ricaine Armstrong en 1930.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019usine s\u2019est tant d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e qu\u2019elle a fini par occuper tout le secteur nord-est de la ville de Palafrugelll. On y confectionnait toutes sortes de produits en li\u00e8ge : des bouchons et des disques, des semelles de chaussures, des bou\u00e9es de sauvetage, des casques coloniaux, de la laine et du papier li\u00e8ge. Dans les ann\u00e9es 1920, elle jouait un r\u00f4le majeur dans l\u2019exportation industrielle du pays.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Les \u00e9l\u00e9ments modernistes qu\u2019elle arbore ont \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7us par l\u2019architecte General Guitart Lostal\u00f3 (1859-1926)\u00a0: la tour de d\u00e9p\u00f4t d\u2019eau, la fa\u00e7ade de la rue Pi i Margall et la maison de Joan Miquel Avell\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019usine a ferm\u00e9 ses derniers espaces en 1993, laissant place \u00e0 un projet de construction qui a permis de consolider un grand site industriel du li\u00e8ge sur le r\u00e9seau urbain.
