Ce lieu de culte a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9rig\u00e9 sur une construction pr\u00e9alable datant du XI<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle dont les restes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 conserv\u00e9s. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019un immeuble de style gothique qui comprend des \u00e9l\u00e9ments de la Renaissance, comme son entr\u00e9e, mais aussi un clocher baroque. La nef centrale est le r\u00e9sultat d\u2019une restauration r\u00e9alis\u00e9e entre 1588 et 1599 et la fa\u00e7ade a \u00e9t\u00e9 construite entre le XVI<sup>e<\/sup> et le XVII<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Au cours du XVIII<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle, il \u00e9tait question de reprendre la construction du clocher, mais les travaux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 paralys\u00e9s par la Guerre du Roussillon (1793- 1795). Au XVIII<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle, le sculpteur Pau Costa a construit un grand retable en bois qui a pris feu en 1936, quand la Guerre civile a \u00e9clat\u00e9. L\u2019incendie a \u00e9galement d\u00e9truit plusieurs objets liturgiques et gravement endommag\u00e9 la structure de l\u2019\u00e9glise.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sa restauration a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 la fin de la guerre et s\u2019est prolong\u00e9e jusqu\u2019en 1943. Le projet \u00e9tait de d\u00e9corer l\u2019int\u00e9rieur de l\u2019\u00e9glise avec des fresques, desquelles s\u2019est charg\u00e9 Guillem Soler Gatvillar\u00f3 (1905-1971).
