Durante el siglo XIX la presencia de emigrantes de Palafrugell a Am\u00e9rica se increment\u00f3 (cabe destacar el fil\u00e1ntropo Josep Torres Jonama) y se concentr\u00f3 en las colonias de Cuba y de Argentina, hecho que propici\u00f3 que durante la Guerra de Cuba de 1989 varios vecinos se embarcaran hacia una guerra no deseada.<\/p>\n<p>Los Bassa Rocas son una familia ampurdanesa de fuertes convicciones religiosas y ra\u00edces catalanistas, que encontraron en la lejana Am\u00e9rica los instrumentos para erigirse en defensa de la lengua y de la cultura catalana a trav\u00e9s de los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n y de diferentes entidades catalanas en Argentina.
