Del edificio primitivo, en el interior queda en buen estado el vest\u00edbulo, con b\u00f3vedas de lunetas, y la escalera de piedra que conduce al primer piso. Junto a este casal se encuentra la iglesia dels Dolors, de una nave, con portada barroca y un campanario de espada\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>El hospital funcionaba gracias a donaciones particulares o institucionales. Un gran benefactor fue Mart\u00ed Serr\u00e0 i Avell\u00ed (1713-1785), indiano de Palafrugell que hizo fortuna en Guatemala y que a su muerte dej\u00f3 un legado de 10.000 pesos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>En 1852, las religiosas de la Pur\u00edssima Concepci\u00f3 atend\u00edan a los enfermos. Desde 1859, lo hicieron las monjas carmelitas de la Caridad Vedruna y, seguidamente, las religiosas de Sant Josep, hasta el a\u00f1o 1989.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>En su \u00faltima etapa funcion\u00f3 como residencia geri\u00e1trica (desde 1983) y centro de d\u00eda (desde 1998).
