Fue la casa familiar del matrimonio formado por Josep Bech de Careda Olivas y Rosa Plana Avell\u00ed. La familia Bech de Careda, procedente de Agullana, ten\u00eda una estrecha relaci\u00f3n con Palafrugell, en parte por los tapones de corcho que vend\u00eda a casas comerciales palafrugellenses.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>En este gran casal novecentista, destacan elementos de decoraci\u00f3n de inspiraci\u00f3n cl\u00e1sica, como columnas, capiteles, guirnaldas o balaustres. La finca contaba con una casa para el guarda y una gran extensi\u00f3n de patios y jardines que se extend\u00edan desde la calle de Cervantes hasta la calle Ample.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>En 1963, el Ayuntamiento, con el objetivo de descongestionar el centro de la villa, muy saturado, adquiri\u00f3 la finca para trasladar all\u00ed las oficinas municipales al a\u00f1o siguiente. Se reorden\u00f3 el sector con la apertura de la avenida de Josep Pla, se cre\u00f3 un aparcamiento p\u00fablico y el antiguo jard\u00edn se convirti\u00f3 en un parque.
