En el lado norte de la plaza, se conserva uno de los arcos de entrada de la muralla. Al lado estaba la Torre d\u2019en Moragues. Se derrib\u00f3 en 1908 para facilitar la circulaci\u00f3n de veh\u00edculos.<\/p>\n<p>Muchas de las actividades sociales de Palafrugell se organizan en la plaza Nova. Los dos edificios m\u00e1s destacados de la plaza son el Centro Fraternal y el C\u00edrculo Mercantil.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>CENTRO FRATERNAL<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Es el \u00fanico casino activo que queda en Palafrugell. A finales del siglo XIX (19) hab\u00eda m\u00e1s casinos, pero ahora solo funciona este. Se fund\u00f3 en 1887 y era el casino de los obreros, la mayor\u00eda de los cuales trabajaba en la industria corchera. Conserva varias salas para las socias y los socios, el caf\u00e9, el teatro y una magn\u00edfica biblioteca.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1><strong>EL C\u00cdRCULO MERCANTIL<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Creado el 1904 por palafrugellenses representantes de la burgues\u00eda industrial, comerciantes y grandes propietarios. La nova sociedad se instal\u00f3 en este edificio construido a finales de la d\u00e9cada de 1870.<\/p>\n<p>Entre 1920 y 1930, lo reformaron para hacerlo m\u00e1s parecido a los grandes casinos burgueses de la \u00e9poca. Hab\u00eda un teatro, que hoy en d\u00eda es el Teatro Municipal de Palafrugell, despu\u00e9s que el Ayuntamiento reformar\u00e1 los edificios en el a\u00f1o\u00a02009.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; PLAZA NOVA Construida el 1758 en el que era de todo el pueblo.
