Since Medieval times, people lived inland due to the danger of sea raids, and on the coast there were boat houses, or \u201cstores\u201d, where fishing tools were kept.<\/p>\n<p>The first fishing families moved in there around the middle of the 19th century, after which salt mines and taverns were slowly built. Even so, the beaches of Aigua Dol\u00e7a, Tamariu and Es Porti\u00f3, which formed the bay, were places where the families of Palafrugell would go to spend the day.
